Description

The Sunnyside Rural Trust works in Hertfordshire with adults with learning disabilities through horticultural and practical activities.
It has three sites in Berkhamsted, Northchurch and Hemel Hempstead where they offer trainees work experience in various aspects of horticulture including planting, potting on, digging & site maintenance as well as in practical activities such as working with willow. Trainees, aged 16+, spend 1- 5 days a week in supported placements to achieve their goals and objectives.

Activity description: 

Sunnyside has a wide range of opportunities for volunteering including gardening, craft activities, working at the site shops & market stalls, helping with events and administration support.
Examples of volunteering roles include:
• Driving minibus to transport trainees or accompanying the driver to support passengers
• Site maintenance such as weeding, strimming, mowing, watering
• Preparing beds for planting
• Potting up, planting & harvesting
• Creating new projects e.g. composting areas
• Helping with craft activities such as making cards, working with willow and wood
• Helping to make jam and preserves
• Helping with marketing and fundraising activities
• Painting fences and chicken coups

Logistic conditions: 
Accomodation will be located by the local coordinator throug ABODEBED Serviced Apartments & Luxury Flats to Rent in Hemel Hempstead. One bedroom apartments have a onesize bed, bathroom with bath and shower, fully equipped kitchen with integrated appliances (fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, oven/hob and microwave), spacious lounge/diner with TV/DVD/Sky+ and double sofabed. Complimentary onsite parking with lift access from all car parking levels. All apartments include 'usual' amenities such as hairdryers and irons. Sunnyside is on three sites in Berkhamsted, Northchurch and Hemel Hempstead. The first two can be reached by the 500 bus from Hemel Hempstead (about £4.50 return fare), while the latter is walkable from the centre of Hemel Hempstead.

1.400 €
The cost indicated is including: pre-departure preparation in your country, accommodation in a individual room (all included), insurance, organisation of the hosting placement and local support. Board, International travel costs and local transports are not included and the volunteer is directly responsible for them.

2.350 €
The cost indicated is including: pre-departure preparation in your country, accommodation in a individual room (all included), insurance, organisation of the hosting placement and local support. 3.500 €
